On August 9 2014 Anchor City Rollers (Halifax NS) held its 4th anniversary double-header. The first part of the double-header was the traditional matchup between Anchor City’s two home teams, namely the Dead Ringers and the Black Rock Bandits. The Black Rock Bandits held a 108-61 lead at halftime and eventually defeated the Dead Ringers by a score of 247-128. The Dead Ringers made 35 visits to the penalty box as opposed to 23 visits for the Black Rock Bandits. The second part of the double-header featured the Kickin Vixens from Highland Derby Dolls in New Glasgow NS, facing the Valley Avengers from Riptide Rollers of Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley. The Kickin Vixens took an early lead and gradually pulled ahead, leading 235-96 at halftime to finally defeat the Valley Avengers by a score of 421-266. Referees and NSOs were kept very busy all through this bout, with 59 penalties given to the Valley Avengers compared to 49 to the Kickin Vixens.
