The Harbour Grudges would go on to take a 117-58 lead into halftime and would remain in control in the second half to eventually win the bout by a score of 263-141. In the first part of a roller derby double-header hosted by Moncton’s Muddy River Rollers, the hometown Mad Hitters took on the visiting Dockyard Brawlers from Halifax NS. The Mad Hitters got off to a good start with an early lead as they were up 24-13 after six minutes of play but the Dockyard Brawlers would came back to tie the score 24-24 with just over 19 minutes left to play in the first half. The teams then traded a few lead changes but the Dockyard Brawlers took a 40-26 lead a few minutes later. The Brawlers maintained a 10 to 15 point lead for the next 5 minutes or so (Brawlers were up 79-68 with 4:42 to go in the first half) but a scoring surge late in the first half allowed the visitors to take a 112-83 lead into halftime. The Mad Hitters fought back in the second half, eventually trailing by only 1 point (154-153) with 8:35 left to play. However the Dockyard Brawlers built back their lead in the last minutes of play to eventually defeat the Mad Hitters by a final score of 180-162. The Mad Hitters ended up with a total of 23 penalties, as opposed to 28 penalties for the Dockyard Brawlers. On August 16 2014 the Kickin Vixens (of New Glasgow’s Highland Derby Dolls roller derby league) hosted New Glasgow’s first ever roller derby bout (although technically the bout was in nearby Trenton NS) to take on the visiting Tar City Rollers from Cape Breton. Tar City were up 38-17 about 9 minutes into the first half but that lead quickly evaporated as the Kickin Vixens turned things around to suddenly take a 62-40 lead three minutes later. This would turn out to be the only lead change of the bout as the Kickin Vixens took a 141-112 lead into halftime. In the second half Cape Breton clawed their way back into the bout and were trailing by only 7 points (165-158) with 17 minutes left in the bout, but that would be as close as they would get to catching up to New Glasgow. The Kickin Vixens went on to win this historic bout by a score of 281-223. A total of three skaters fouled out (two for New Glasgow, one for Cape Breton) in a penalty-filled affair that sent the Kickin Vixens to the sin bin 57 times, as opposed to 52 times for the Tar City Rollers.

"In roller derby action on June 29th in Summerside, Prince Edward Island during the festivities surrounding Atlanticade 2014, PEI’s own Red Rock’n Roller Derby took on the visiting Halifax Harbour Grudges (Anchor City Rollers). Halifax got off to an early lead in a very physical and close bout that saw no less than 5 lead changes in the first half. PEI went into halftime with a 137-100 lead and managed to maintain a similar lead over their opponents throughout the second half, eventually defeating Halifax by a final score of 200-165. Penalty box staff were kept busy with 38 visits from Halifax skaters and 33 visits from PEI." - Richard Lafortune
